Stand still, like the sun
Allow stillness, like the earth
Be quiet, like the birds.
It is so wondrous to be in relationship with the changes of the heavens and of the earth. It’s quite magical really to feel a part of it all. And we are!
The last few days, approaching the Summer Solstice (solstice actually means: stand still) I have noticed that the sun is, in fact (according to my weather app), rising and setting at the same time. The growing light and the growing earth are slowing, slowing as the zenith of the light half of the year is reached.
I also noticed this morning when I awoke at 7 AM how quiet it was. The chaos of the bird chorus has ended. Even now, a few hours later, the quiet prevails with a few calls now and again.
What are you noticing as we enter the Midsummer time? How are you feeling the beginning of the descent?

I love visiting graveyards. This was a new headstone at a very old monastic site in County Clare. May we ever surrender to what is, including the movement from light to dark.
Thanks everyone for reading and being here, for moving through these cycles together, human and more than human.
To the slow return of the dark and to celebrating the gifts of the light, Tonja x

I am grateful for these reflections, Tonja. I love the stillness and quiet. In fact, I begin missing the stillness of Winter right about now, the coming into the inward focus and all the gifts that come with it. There's always something to love and something to miss; such is life..keeps the longing and seeking alive as well as the potential for contentment. Much love to you 🪶💚🪶
